Calle Ocho, Miami!
No trip to Miami would be complete without a stop in La Pequeña Habana or Little Havana. Little Havana is a neighborhood located west of downtown with its main drag beginning on 8th Street (Calle Ocho). It is in essence the cultural, communal and political capitol of Miami for Cuban, South and Central Americans. Calle Ocho is a one way street in an easily walkable nieghborhood. Authentic Latin American mom and pop markets sell avocados the size of softballs and fresh squeezed orange juice is available on every corner. Drink from a coconut, watch the “Little Havana Bongo Player” and sip some super strong Café Cubano coffee. Now with your espresso buzz head over to Domino Park and marvel at the speediness of the players. But don’t break their concentration! Keep your eyes peeled for the Latin Walk of Fame and see how many stars you can recognize.
