Where to begin?
Mexico is an amazing and vast place. It far exceeded my expectations in every way possible. The food, culture, architecture, religion, history, dance, politics, art, and geography were above and beyond. It was love at first site.
From the moment we stepped off the plane we hit the ground running. Starting in Mexico City or D.F. (as it is known), we wandered through neighborhoods, soaked up sunshine, exercised our inadequately sparse Spanish and snacked. Oh, how we snacked!
The city was packed with gleeful people celebrating the beginning of Semana Santa (Holy Week). Kids played in fountains, lovers strolled, and street meat spindles spun. My sincerest apologies, I was too busy eating to take a photo for reference (see “oh, how we snacked” comment above).
D.F. highlights include, bullfighting run-throughs, cats named Tortas, Palm Sunday set-ups, towering cathedrals, archeology sites within city limits, and more bright colors than my camera knew what to do with.
